Schumacher Facing Understeering With W01

schumacher-uncomfortable-with-understeering-w01-17889_1.jpg

Michael Schumacher is yet to get comfortable with the Mercedes W01, despite the 7 or 8 days of testing during the month of February. According to both the team’s boss Ross Brawn and Schumacher’s little brother Ralf, it seems that Nico Rosberg finds it more natural to drive the 2010 challenger than the 7-time world champion.

Nico (Rosberg) has felt a little better in the car (than Schumacher) in his test days,” said Brawn in recent days, echoing the comments of Schumacher’s long-time manager Willi Weber - who was replaced by Sabine Kehm in that position a few days ago - who revealed that his former client doesn’t like his car’s tendency to understeer.

However, this is not a fresh problem for the cars built at Brackley, as the predecessor of the W01, the Brawn BGP01, had the same problem throughout the course of last season. However, the racing styles of both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello made it easier for the car to be controlled at performing levels during the races.

Jordan Think Schumacher Can’t Win The Title

jordan-no-chance-for-schumacher-to-take-8th-title-17864_1.jpg

BBC pundit Eddie Jordan - formerly a team owner inside the Formula One Championship - said that Michael Schumacher must be “out of his mind” to return to the sport that turned him into a 7-time world champion. Speaking his mind about Schumacher’s chances of making a difference in the 2010 championship, Jordan believes the German made a terrible mistake returning in F1.

If I was his father I would have said to him, ‘Son, why? Why?!’ Seven times a world champion - he must be out of his mind! In life, you - as an individual with that sporting legacy - have to give your sport up, not the sport give you up, and he’s putting himself in that position,” said Jordan during a pre-season BBC discussion this week, according to crash.net.

Michael’s positive attitude towards his first comeback

schumacher-may-become-more-private-in-2010-16881_1.jpg

Everything seems bright and shiny in the Mercedes GP garage now that Michael Schumacher has begun work on the development of the W01 car - through his feedback from testing - while also keeping his positive attitude towards his first comeback season.

We’re not sure if most of you noticed this, but the 41-year old German has been quite outspoken and friendly with everyone around him lately. And, while this may be linked with his passion for racing and the opportunity he has been handed to resume it, Schumacher admitted he may have to switch to the old him during the season.

Meaning we’ll most likely see a more private Schumacher in 2010 as compared to the exuberant German that makes the headlines with his open attitude nowadays, depending on how things will go down this year.

Everything Good For Vijay Mallya

vijay-mallya-plays-down-dissolution-allegations-16397_1.jpg

Following the recent reports that Force India Mercedes might face dissolution as a result of failing to register its accounts with Companies House for 2008, the team’s co-owner Vijay Mallys played down such a prospect and ensured the media that everything is under control at the Silverstone factory.

The Indian billionaire talked to Autosport earlier today and confirmed that the deadline for registering those accounts has already been extended for February 25, and that the team has every intention of setting the records straight prior to the beginning of the 2010 season opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

I want Button

Lewis Hamilton put the rumors to rest during the McLaren Mercedes MP4-25 launch event in Newbury, at least the ones regarding his new teammate Jenson Button. The 2008 world champion told the media that it was his personal choice to see the reigning F1 champion in the same McLaren seat as him, although when he first told that to his team, McLaren was not negotiating with Button.

According to Lewis, he spoke personally with the members from McLaren’s staff and for the first time launched the hypothesis that Button would complete an all-British lineup for the Woking based team.

The super exclusive car is powered by a 753 horsepower 6.0 liter biturbo engine which brings the car to sixty in just 3.7 seconds: super car territory indeed.

Here are some thoughts on the car from CEO Markus Schuste:

“We deliberately wanted to develop a car which is highly exclusive on the one hand and can be used for the daily journey to office on the other hand,” Schuster said. “All security-relevant regulations such as pedestrian protection, crash behaviour, ESP, ABS, Airbag systems are identical to large series editions with most modern standards.”

Schumacher Could Race Longer

schumacher-could-race-in-f1-from-2013-onwards-15982_1.jpg

Michael Schumacher has agreed to a 3-year deal with Mercedes GP, when finally deciding to return to Formula One racing. While insisting that he came back to win an 8th title in the series, the 41-year old German did admit that he may have to wait for a year or so to make it to the F1 crown.

Additionally, Schuey revealed that he may race some more in the Great Circus, meaning he may not stop at the end of 2012. By that date, the German ace would be 43, but he argued that this has nothing to do with his ability to race F1 cars. If he’ll still have fun with it, its’ likely that he’ll continue to drive for Mercedes.

The good thing is that Mercedes believes in me and is giving me the chance for three years to have success. But it does not mean it has to end after three years,” Schumacher was quoted as saying to the German newspaper Bild.

3 Years Break Makes Him Hungry For More

schumacher-recharged-his-batteries-since-2006-15707_1

Reflecting on his Formula One return next season on his personal website, Michael Schumacher revealed that the 3-year period of time that he spent outside the racing world has only made him more hungry to further add to his impressive resume. He made it very clear that he wants to win at least another world title in F1 and, considering the team he signed with, there is no reason why he can’t be optimistic about it.

We have a clear aim - we want to win the championship. That is my personal standard too, and that’s what we will fight for from the beginning. The constellation we have here is pretty unique - with Ross (Brawn) and his world championship-winning team, with the know-how of Mercedes, with the best engine at the moment…and we want to use that. It is about time to start this whole thing,” said Schu.

McLaren Get Ferrari Aerodynamicist

mclaren-hires-former-ferrari-aerodynamicist-15697_1.jpg

John Iley might have failed in securing Ferrari a race-winning machine back in 2009, but he seems good enough for McLaren Mercedes for the upcoming campaign of Formula One. According to a McLaren spokesman confirming to the Reuters news agency, Iley has already started work at the Woking factory earlier this month.

Iley was ousted by Ferrari midway through last season, when the Scuderia officials figured out that the F60 was a complete failure from an aerodynamic standpoint. Iley was then head of aerodynamics and wind tunnel for the Maranello based team and was held responsible for the poor results recorded by the car until that point.

The firing was made without any further explanations from the Ferrari organization.
