2011-mercedes-benz-cls-images-leaked-23544_1.jpg

With some good few months left before the new generation Mercedes-Benz CLS will be ready to meet the masses, the first official images showing the car have been leaked, got into the hands of eMercedesBenz and from there all hell broke loose.

The new CLS, as you can see, brings little differences compared to the overall design lines of the outgoing generation. Yet, a few cues borrowed from the Shooting Break concept can be spotted on the car, especially at the front.

On the interior, the model will be presenting its demanding customers with four-seats and a center console which runs the entire length of the car.

Vath Mercedes C 250 CGI

vath-mercedes-c-250-cgi-unveiled-23491_1.jpg

The German tuners from Vath have recently revealed a custom turbo kit for the new Mercedes C 250 CGI which manages to raise the output to 270 horsepower, charging customers about EUR 1,200 for this conversion. This makes the Vath Mercedes C 250 CGI around 66 horsepower more powerful than the standard model.

This increase in the amount of power was made possible thanks to an optimized engine electronics, a Vath charged air cooler and sports exhaust system. That is, of course, if you are willing to pay some extra EUR 3,200 for these tweaks.

However, the tuners say that when only the ECU upgrade is applied the car develops 255 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque.

The British tuners at Superchips have just released a new ECU remap for the Mercedes C 350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY, which adds 34 bhp and 80 Nm to the power of the engine unit. Covering 350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY variants across C / E / M / R and S-Klasse models, the ECU remap from Superchips has been validated by road and chassis dyno testing.

As said, the result of the Superchips ECU remap is an increase of 34 bhp at 3008 rpm, resulting in a maximum peak power figure of up to 284 bhp (up from a measured standard power output of 250 bhp.)

There is also a “decent spread of driveable power,” as the tuners say, with over 250 bhp available from 2700-4400 rpm. The remap for the Mercedes C 350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY model delivers a significant boost in torque, which jumps from 587 Nm to 642 Nm at just 2469 rpm, which leads to a maximum gain of 80 Nm at 3008 rpm.

Nico’s Tire Incident Explained

nico-rosberg-s-tire-incident-in-hungary-explained-23061_1.jpg

Mercedes GP walked away from the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend with no points in its pocket and, more importantly, $50,000 missing in their back account. And that’s because the International Automobile Federation (FIA) handed them that penalty for their pit lane incident involving Nico Rosberg.

Well, to be more accurate, the incident was centered on the rear right-hand wheel of Rosberg’s car, which took a journey of its own shortly after the German left his team’s pits and ended up into one of the mechanics belonging to Williams-Cosworth.

The Brackley based team’s boss Ross Brawn explained what happened during Rosberg’s pit stop, saying that it was all an unfortunate miscommunication between the mechanic that was supposed to fix the aforementioned wheel and the jack man. However, the Brit promissed that in the future he would make sure such incidents will not happen again.

2008-white-mercedes-benz-clk63-amg-carbon-fiber.JPG

When talking about a contemporary premium vehicle, one of the important components that offers the luxury feel is the gearbox. The transmissions have a difficult job, as modern large capacity engines that are installed in the aforementioned vehicles have a hefty torque output. So, the gearbox must handle all the power and torque while offering a incredibly high level of smoothness.

Some of the top luxury cars sold nowadays use eight-speed automatic transmissions that manage to complete the aforementioned tasks while also delivering prompt reactions that ensure good dynamics.

Now Mercedes Benz plans to up the ante, with the German company working on a nine-speed automatic transmission, as autocar writes.

When you put the Mercedes S-Klasse in the same sentence with the Japanese tuner Wald International, you should expect to receive a premium sedan that comes with a radical appearance, with the vehicle offering, among others, radical stylistic modifications.

The tuning company comes to confirm this once again, by launching a reinterpretation of its Black Bison Edition kit for the German luxury saloon.

At the front of the car we can see a redesigned bumper that comes with an angular design. It incorporated generously-sized air intakes, side air inlets, a set of fog lights that use LED technology and has received a black finish for the grille and fog light supports.

Mercedes-Benz R-Class

mercedes-benz-r-class

After a world premiere at the New York International Auto Show in March this year and the positive feedback received there, Mercedes-Benz is convinced that it is on the right track with the new-generation R-Class. A completely redesigned front section in particular enhances the overall look of this model, with styling cues taken from Mercedes-Benz saloon and SUV models.

The interior of the “twenty-ten” model year R-Class complements this fresh exterior, combining as it does the good use of space found in the latest MPV models with the comfort, high-class appeal and prestige of classic Mercedes-Benz luxury-class saloons. At the same time this latest generation retains the interior versatility of its predecessor, whilst also benefiting from the robustness and all-wheel drive capability it draws from the Mercedes-Benz SUVs. 3117461371505790992

Pictures of the facelifted 2011 Mercedes CL-Class / S-Class Coupe have been “accidently” posted on the automaker’s Dutch website.

While no information was released, this is our first semi-official glimpse at the premium coupe in standard and AMG -trim packages. As expected, the car features a new front bumper, revised headlights, LED fog lights, and a sportier grille.

Despite the minor exterior revisions, there are big changes under the hood. The CL350 will feature a naturally-aspirated 3.5 Litre V6 Blue Direct Engine with 306 PS (301 bhp / 225 kW) and 368 Nm (272 lb-ft) of torque, while the CL550 gets a Twin Turbo 4.6 Litre V8 Blue Direct Engine with 435 PS (429 bhp / 320 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. In the CL63 AMG, power will be provided by 5.5 Litre Biturbo V8 with 544 PS (400 kW / 537 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) or torque. The V12s will likely carryover untouched.
