2010-fiat-doblo-details-released-13325_1.jpg

Italian manufacturer Fiat released yesterday details on the new Fiat Doblo, a model dubbed by the Italians Family Space. As opposed to the previous version, the new Doblo features extensive modifications to the styling, engines and technical specifications. Enough modifications, Fiat says, to make the Doblo the “best in class” both in terms of space and in terms of reduced emissions.

Engine wise, the car is available in one petrol engine and three diesel versions, developing 95 hp (petrol), 90, 105 and 135 hp (diesel). Fiat says a Natural Power engine with dual fuel system (petrol and methane) and an additional diesel engine with Dualogic robotized gearbox will be added later on.

All of the aforementioned units are Euro 4 and Euro 5 compliant, and are available with a Start/Stop system as standard.

Don’t Touch My Fiat Palio [VIDEO Inside]

very-funny-fiat.jpg

For today’s Funny Car Commercial of the Day, we take a trip into another land where automobile drivers often find it necessary to share the road with their fellow human-powered, two-wheeled travelers. We wouldn’t know, having lived right here in the U.S. of A. our whole lives, but apparently bicyclists in South Africa happen to have a few irritating habits… like using the hood of your car as a means to balance themselves while waiting for the light to change.

If the commercial pasted after the break is any indication, perhaps the aforementioned practice isn’t such a good idea. Consider yourself warned: unclip from your pedals and put your feet on the ground - it’s safer that way. Stay tuned for another funny car commercial on this space in short order.

Fiat design of the FCC III concept

fcc.jpg

From Bertone to Pininfarina, some legendary designers have worked with Fiat over the years. Now the Italian automaker is offering car lovers a chance to join the pantheon. While your name won’t appear in chrome letters on the fender, your suggestions will guide the hands of Fiat’s designers.

Fiat Brazil’s Style Center is crowdsourcing the design of the FCC III concept, the third concept from the company’s designers in that country. Far from a run-of-the-mill design contest, Fiat says that Mio is the first car designed under a Creative Commons license.

According to the company, the design process will culminate in the unveiling of the FCC III at the 2010 Sao Paolo International Auto Show. Unlike the previous two concepts, the first of which is shown above, the FCC III will feature a design, safety features, material selection, infotainment system and drivetrain based on suggestions from the online community gathered at the Fiat Mio website.

The Modern Fiat Sentiero Pickup

fiattruck_lead.jpg

Picture it: you’re on holiday in Ericeira, Portugal and wouldn’t you know it, the Vespas you rented to take to Sintra won’t fit in the back of the Peugeot. You bang on your Brit ex-pat neighbor’s door to see if you can borrow his Ford Transit, but he’s not home and the suspiciously young Hungarian lady backpackers he’s letting crash are too stoned to remember where he went. This could happen to you, but not if design student Dragos Prodan has anything to say about it. Behold — the Fiat Sentiero.

BMW New Model: Fiat Panda

bmw-panda-01.jpg

Once in a while we come across car owners that have nothing better to do than to “mod” their car in a BMW style. Well, if adding a BMW badge to your car can be called modding…

We’ve seen this type of behavior recently when an owner of a Geely(a Chinese car brand) decided to turn his automobile into a 3 Series….or at least, tried to do so. The effort was admirable since lots of work and skills has been put to modify the front-end, but in the end, we were still shocked that someone would go through such extreme.

Kimi rolling it into a ditch

raikkonenrally2.jpg

Kimi Raikkonen might have crashed during the 19th special stage of Rally Finland on Saturday, but he sure did not make a full out of himself this weekend. Although he never got to cross the finish line, the Finn proved everyone that he does have the speed to tackle a WRC-like event. The Ferrarian’s Fiat Abarth Grande Punto S2000 had several engine problems during Day 2 of the Rally of 1000 Lakes, but Kimi was still able to run as high as 15th place overall going into the 29.29 km stage at Vaarinmaja. Only a few kilometers from the start, Raikkonen wrongly approached a corner and crashed his car in the process, rolling it into a ditch.
